We're Nothing Without Help

Our band and guard programs are nothing without volunteer help! Band families, alumni, military members and fellow community members, we are so grateful to everyone who volunteers and are always looking for additional help.

We need bakers, crafters, chaperones, drivers, prop builders, prop movers, artists, designers, specialty instructors and all around eager-to-help volunteers. We would love to have you join us to help create an amazing experience for the students.

We use Sign-Up Genius for volunteer needs. We now have a form that will cover the entire school year so that every event will be listed in one place.

Currently, only band camp and football game dates are listed. We will be adding competitions, concerts, fundraising events and more as upcoming band/guard events are confirmed.

Please read below about getting your required OHSD Volunteer Badge.

Whether you are a parent/guardian, alumni, military member and/or community member, it makes it so much easier for the band director and ensures the safety of the students when you have your Oak Harbor School District volunteer badge. The district requires them to be worn anytime you are volunteering on school district property.

Badges are valid for two years. The process is quite easy. Fill out volunteer form (NOW ONLINE). Once your background check is done, approved and processed (3-5 days) you will be notified via email to then go to the district building to have your picture taken and get your badge. Voila! You are set!

And you don't just have to help the OHHS Band program, many opportunities are available to volunteer for. If you have children in different Oak Harbor schools, you can also ask their teacher(s) if they need help as well.

PS. When filling out the online application, when you are asked for the "Type", scroll down and click on "Volunteer"

Washington State Food Worker Card

Please note that any opportunities involving cooking/serving food will require a Washington State Food Worker Card. It's just $10 and you can get yours in about 45 minutes by taking the Washington State Food Worker Course.

The Do It Right - Serve It Safe is a training program on food safety developed by Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department. When you complete this training, you will be ready to take the Washington State Food Worker Card exam. After passing the exam you'll be awarded a Washington State Food Worker Card,  which is valid for 2 years.
