Shoe Drive

In the US alone, over 600 million pairs of shoes are thrown away per year. The materials used to manufacture a pair of shoes are created from chemical compounds that will create health hazards if left to disintegrate openly or in landfills. By donating your gently worn, used and news shoes to the OHHS Band Boosters, your shoes are given a second chance to make a difference.

What Is It?

The OHHS Band Boosters conduct a shoe drive fundraiser (starting in August) to raise funds for the OHHS Band & Color Guard programs. We earn funds based on the total weight of the pairs of gently worn, used and new shoes collected, as Funds2Orgs will issue a check for the collected shoes. Those dollars will benefit our programs directly for equipment, instruments, travel and more. Anyone can help by donating gently worn, used and new shoes at our collection boxes.

So, what happens to the shoes?

All donated shoes will then be redistributed throughout the Funds2Orgs network of micro-enterprise (small business) partners. Funds2Orgs works with micro-entrepreneurs in helping them create, maintain and grow small businesses in developing countries where economic opportunity and jobs are limited. Proceeds from the sales of the shoes collected in shoe drive fundraisers are used to feed, clothe and house their families. Read more about micro-enterprising by clicking on the button below.

We are excited to be able to raise funds, give those shoes a second chance and make a difference in people’s lives around the world.
